The opportunity 

The Database Administrator (DBA) – Platform & Operations is responsible for the administration, maintenance, performance, security, and operational support of enterprise database environments across traditional, hybrid, and cloud platforms. This role works closely with infrastructure, application, cloud, security, and development teams to ensure the availability, reliability, scalability, and performance of critical database systems supporting enterprise applications and business services. 

 The DBA will manage database platforms, backup and recovery processes, high availability solutions, performance optimization, operational governance, and database security while supporting modernization initiatives, automation efforts, and cloud adoption strategies. The role also contributes to operational excellence by maintaining database standards, documentation, monitoring, and continuous improvement processes. 

 This position requires strong technical expertise in enterprise database administration, troubleshooting, operational support, and infrastructure collaboration within highly available enterprise environments.

Role responsibilities 

  • Administer, maintain, patch, upgrade, and support enterprise database environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. 
  • Manage database installation, configuration, performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning activities. 
  • Maintain and support high availability, replication, clustering, and disaster recovery solutions for critical database systems. 
  • Configure and maintain database backup, recovery, retention, and restoration processes. 
  • Monitor database health, performance, storage utilization, and operational metrics to ensure system reliability and availability. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents, performance issues, connectivity problems, and operational escalations. 
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, and application teams to support enterprise operational requirements. 
  • Maintain database security controls including access management, auditing, encryption, patching, and vulnerability remediation. 
  • Support cloud and hybrid database environments including AWS database services and cloud connectivity. 
  • Participate in database migration, upgrade, consolidation, and modernization initiatives. 
  • Develop and maintain database operational procedures, standards, runbooks, and technical documentation. 
  • Support database automation and operational improvement initiatives using scripting and configuration management tools. 
  • Participate in change management, incident management, problem management, and operational governance processes. 
  • Perform database capacity analysis, growth forecasting, and resource optimization activities. 
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security, operational, backup, and data governance standards. 
  • Participate in on-call support rotations and operational escalation processes. 
  • Support application deployment activities and collaborate with development teams on database-related requirements. 
  • Contribute to operational reviews, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Do you have what we are looking for? 

Skills & expertise 

  • 6–9 years of experience in database administration, infrastructure operations, or enterprise IT environments.
  • Strong experience administering enterprise database platforms such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Experience supporting high availability, replication, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Skilled in database performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Capable of supporting cloud and hybrid database environments, including AWS database services.
  • Proficient in database security, access control, auditing, and operational governance.
  • Strong background in automation, scripting, and operational tooling.
  • Adept at supporting highly available enterprise applications and operational environments.
  • Collaborative approach to working with infrastructure, cloud, networking, and application support teams (preferred).
